According to Jacob McKay he willed the house which once belonged to Robert Mackay/McKay Jr., just lost by fire--to his youngest son Oscar Caleb McKay.

I will be viewing Warren Co. VA land deeds 1836 to 1871 and hope to trace the ownership of the property. He must have transfer the property before 1870.

Oscar C. McKay found on the 1850 Warren Co. VA, can't locate him 1860.

Thanks to Heritage Quest I have found him on the following census:

17 Jun 1870 living Bedford, Lincoln Co. MO: Oscar C. McKay 34 born in VA, wife Mary E. 33 VA, their children Emma E. 11, Virginia L. 6, Lena 10 months.

21 Jun 1880 living in Bedford, Lincoln Co. MO: O.C. McKay 45, his wife Mary 43, their children Jennie 16, Lena 10.

23 Jun 1900 living in Bedford, Lincoln Co. MO: Oscar McKay 65 years born Jun 1835 VA, wife Mary 64 years born May 1835, married 41 years, she had 9 nine children, only three alive in 1900, none living with them.

Not listed on 1910 census for the above location. A check of Lincoln Co. MO records might yield more information.

It would appear from the above information, that the information I was given about him having a second wife Sarah Hefflebower was false. Also it would appear he had no male children that lived to adulthood.

Two land deed filed in Warren Co. VA

Book F,138 dated 24 May 1855 probated 21 Jun 1855 the couple Thomas B. McKay & his wife Ann E. conveyed over their 1/9 rights to the property devised from Joshua Antrim to Elizabeth MCKAY (wife of Jacob) and after her death to be given to her "several children" And whereas said Elizabeth & Jacob McKay and her older children had sold the property to James R. Richards, the minor children were required by the will of said Jacob McKay (now dec'd) to confirm the transfer of the property.

Book F, 324 dated 20 Oct 1856, probated 17 Jan 1857 the couple Oscar C. McKay & his wife Mary E. conveyed all their rights 1/9 to the above property. They will later remove to MO. It would appear he did not have a second wife named Sarah Hefflebower as I recorded on page 86 of McKay book.

1. Nancy Antrim McKay m. her cousin Robert S. McKay
2. Joshua Antrim McKay
3. Jesse Hitter McKay
4. Sarah Jane McKay m. Charles Buck
5. Eliza/Elizabeth Ellen McKay m. John Gill Buck
6. James Buck McKay was alive when uncle's will dated, dec'd at allotment
7. Francis McKay was not mentioned by uncle's will died 1843
8. Wm. B. McKay his move to IN new information to me
9. Thomas Buck McKay under 21 years of age, so listed as infant

They had 10 children, but at the allotment they had nine living children.
