I have recieved word that Geocities, the website host for our family website is going to be discontinued by Yahoo! sometime later this year. This means that I will have to remove the entire website (minus the Message Boards) to a new host server which will be Yahoo! Business.

This will mean changing all the connection links between each page to reflect the new URLs. Since I have created a master URL link this shouldn't be too difficult but it will be time consuming. I'm assuming that by the way Yahoo! business is set up that all the URLs will just have www.robertmackayclan.com/ before them instead of the old www.geocities.com/mckyrbnsn/ which is what they currently look like.

I'm going to see if this costs us more or less than how things are currently done at Geocities. I'm thinking that in the long run we'll be saving some money.

I'll update everyone here on when the transfer will be done. It will happen sometime later this year.

No more "Discussion Forum" that's a shame all the information which will be lost.

I guess I will stop posting any more information about our families, if all will be gone by the end of the year.

Good luck with your future research.

The Discussion Forum will not be going anywhere. It's hosted by Network 54 and our accounts there haven't changed.

What is happening is that Yahoo! owns Geocities which is where The Robert Mackay Clan website is housed on and they are closing Geocities.

I will be expanding my account with Yahoo! Business where the Robertmackayclan.com Domain name is held and setting up the Robert Mackay Clan website over there.

The only thing that will change is the URLs to each of the pages on the website.

The Robert Mackay Clan website is not going away. It's just going to be moved to Yahoo! business sometime later this year.

Since the Message Boards are not housed at Geocities I do not need to make any changes there. All the data that has been put on the Message Boards will still be there so nobody needs to stop posting.
