I found on land deed filed in Hampshire VA/WV that James Harvey Sowers son of John & Jane (Knight) Sowers, his middle name was in fact HARVEY and not Henry has earlier Family Historians thought.

Still looking for what "H" stood for George H. Sowers.
Was he named for this earlier Sowers family member.

In the event you are still looking for the owners of Clover Hill, it was previously owned by French Tolliver, Sr. who passed on within the last 8 years. The real estate agent listed on the website, Scott Reid, is Mr. Tolliver's son-in-law and part owner of the property now. Some previous research that I had conducted showed where shortly after Dr. Law's death, Great, Great Aunt Alice Sowers Laws had an auction in 1926. Each and every item sold is recorded in the books at the Warren Co Courthouse. There were most likely one or two owners of the property between the time that Alice died and Mr. Tolliver obtained the property. I believe he obtained the property in the late 40s or early 50s. This property is located directly across from my father's home place on Rockland Road. His mother, Velma Sowers Powers, was Alice Sowers Laws' niece and your Etta's sister.

Through DNA matches I have on Ancestry Family Finder and Family Tree DNA Family Finder I can confirm her Sowers blood line from Jacob Sr. We know he had three sons: Jacob, Daniel and John. I have DNA match with eldest son Jacob through the effort of Stanley H. Heiskell. He is a double distant Sowers and Hampton cousin. Our matches shows these two different pieces of DNA. Found on Family Tree DNA. If you are a Sowers and Hampton researcher placing your sample should show a match as well. He has his line linked to the wrong Hampton Family.

Could be lots and lots of other descends of Jacob Sowers Sr. I have not been able to use DNA to find the parentage of Jacob Sowers Sr. I still believe he was the second generation of his branch of Sowers. There are many different families using this surname.
