Hello,

I am trying to find information of my 7th Great-grandfather Robert McCay, also spelled McCoy. He married a Jean.
His family became Presbyterians. He was the pioneer Settler of the Kittochtinney Valley. He had dealings with John McClellan, William Maxwell.
It is now called Peters Township, Franklin County, PA

His children were

Mary McCay who married Robert McDowell-he was an Irish Quaker-his line goes all the way back to King Fergus of Scotland. These are my 6th great-grandparents. This is what I don't understand-if Mary was a Presbyterian -how did she marry an Irish Quaker?
James McCoy married Jane McNeely
John married a Rebecca lnu
Margaret McCoy married a Ralston
Hannah McCoy married James Craig
Robert McCoy married Sarah Wallace**--Robert died in the battle of Crooked Billet
Martha McCoy who married James McClellan
Jean McCoy who married Robert Wallace--brother of Sarah Wallace who married Robert McCoy**above
Alexander McCoy married Jane Watts
Catherine McCoy married John McKinney

I need to find this McCay-McCoy family.

Since, I really do not know how much orginal research you have done with your Robert McCoy, I really do not know if the original record exist to solve your problem.

The L.D.S. library does have land deed available for you to read. The cost of $5.50 for each reel and hours reading all of them. If you have not read these records, you might get lucky and find a record which states where your Robert McCoy lived before Cumberland/Franklin Co. PA.

Also you should read general histories of the area where your ancestor lived. The State of PA Library might have records on line.

I see no way your group of McCoy/McCay were related to my group of Mackay/McKay. If others have connected your group to mine, then they are giving you false information. People have posted false and totally made up information about my group of Mackay on line, so I am sure they have done the same with yours.

Have you check with Michael, about his DNA study? He might have people you can contact that lived in that part of PA.

If people contact me about various Mackay etc....families I refer them to this web page. Perhaps others might e-mail me directly.

Do keep us posted, if you find the birth place of your Robert McCoy/McCay.

Good luck with your research.
