L.D.S. church is trying to get ALL their film on line.

Ancestry.com has some of the same information, but a paid service. They have more of the census on line and indexed.

Just an FYI....The names being indexed by the church are all done by volunteers and began last spring. I have helped a little bit but I know others that have put in hours of their time. These are the totals that were sent out by our "supervisor" last week year to date.

Area Summary Utah Salt Lake City Area

Contributors 4772
Indexed 14,608,097
Arbitrated 9,155,041

Some of these records are not easy to read but again, to read them and see a little bit of history has been amazing.

Glad to know it's being done. I'll have to check them out myself sometime. I have so much info. backed up I need to be adding to the website, especially the bios I have on some of the descendants of Moses McKay that were done by Beers and other histories in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

I missed seeing you guys at the Picnic this year. Hopefully next year you will make it. Kendra might get it for being the youngest this year. She only had one competitor.

Once Howard gets the newspaper write-up finished I'll add it to the page I have set up for it. I'll try and check the WNJ website to see if it appears.

L.D.S. group has 1850 Slave Schedule but I do not how complete their listing of counties & states might be.

They did have Warren Co. VA listing for Ann Lehew:

23 years female, black
2 years male, black

Ann Lehew (formerly Ann Van Nort) was the second wife of Eli Lehew, cousin to her husband, and step-mother to Ann Elizabeth Lehew who married in her house on Chester Street in Front Royal, Warren Co. VA on 20 Dec 1852 to Thomas Buck McKay.

I will have to wait until I read Warren Co. VA land deeds to see how T.B. McKay came by the slaves listed to him for 1860 slave schedule. He had a slave named Eliza and slaves of Asa McKay in 1831 also have a slave girl named Eliza. I would be very interested in finding out if they were the same person.

Said Ann Van Nort Lehew buried in the Van Nort Family Cemetery of Front Royal, Warren Co. VA. Dates on stone born 8 Oct 1804 died 15 Oct 1863

her stone states she the daughter of Jacob & Eda Van Nort, wife of Eli Lehew of Hampshire Co. VA,

Her parents stone in same cemetery.

Buried next to said Ann

"Faithful Servant" slab broken, I have found other information her name Malindy died 1 Jan 1863. She could be the same slave listed on 1850 listing of Ann's slaves. So do not think any of her slaves given to her step-daughter upon her marriage with T.B. McKay.
