I am looking for the names of the children of James MacKay, son of Robert McKay, Sr. I have family information that he had a daughter named Edith who married a ancestor of mine, Jonathon McCarty. Can anyone collaborate this?

Robert MacKay Sr second son James McKay had five children that lived to adulthood:
1. James McKay Jr. m. Mary Cheek, died before his father
2. Lydia McKay m-1 James Leeth Sr., m-2 Wm. Wilhite/Wilholt
3. Susanna McKay m. John Curle
4. Robert McKay m. Lydia Leith
5. Nancy McKay m. Ebenezer Leith
Above are named in James Sr.'s will, attorney papers, land deeds and other court recors. As his sole heirs.
What DOCUMENTS do you have, supporting additional children ?
There are no more children. His will named his slave named Sam (mulatto) but I have not heard of any researchers claiming a blood line from him.
When I start abtacting Shenandoah Co. VA wills & land deed in book form I think I will find out more about this branch of the McKay in VA.

The greatest gift given to a serious researcher, if others see they are pursuing a wrong blood line to point them in the right direction. Why sit by and watch people waste their time and money collecting information which doesn't apply to their family tree ?
I do not understand why researchers want to claim ancestry from Robert Mackay Sr. when they are not related ? Not to mention passing around incorrect information about the life and parentage of Robert MacKay Sr. and when you ask for their documentation they are silent or hostile.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but not they own facts. We do have good documented facts about the life of Robert MacKay Sr. there is no need to make up facts or exaggerate known facts. Both are not helpful for people interested in finding out their true family histories.

One file posted on line filed by John Curl against the other heirs of James McKay Sr., included over 37 pages, and the children of James Sr. are just the ones given in his will.
Moses Mackay Sr. son Jeremiah his estate administed by his sons, one son Asabel McKay (spelled as Asakel A. McKay on index) posted a bond and then removed from the State of VA, doesn't say where, dated 29th Mar 1817, being sued by the others in 1827.
Robert S. McKay is found on the Chancery Files, most of the form just named as Robert S. McKay.
There are other McKay listed, that others might find of interest.

If you male or female descend from one of the daughters in question, do Autosomal test through Family Tree DNA cost of $99.
Linda Franks Rogers who descend from James Sr., test results is on file, she would be a closer distant cousin.
Brian W. Beck who descend from Moses Sr., would be a farer distant cousin.
Dee Ann (Shipp) Buck--me--descend from Robert Sr.'s son Robert Jr.
If you have DNA of Robert Mackay Sr., it would show up.
Just a very simple test.

If Mr. Smith would do his Family Finder Test, if descend of slave Sam, he should show African-American. My 1% Mali back at least 12 generations.
