Given in the book by Myers "Some Old Families of Clarke Co. VA" the statement that Dr. Robert Macky of Winchester was "a scot by birth". He was the one who married Catherine Snickers. You can find him doing his business in Frederick Co. VA records. I have NEVER seen him refer to his place of birth in the public records. Given his surname I think I would have noticed.

If this author did have an original record clearly stating his place of birth, I really wish they would have given the source.

Going through the county records of Frederick Co. VA I have only seen a hand full of people coming directly into Frederick Co. VA outside the US. Most came into Frederick Co. VA from MD, PA, NJ, NY and other eastern counties of VA.

It was probably an assumption like all those other old biographies. I remember this Robert Macky from other accounts. He's not part of our family I believe.

It's similar to the account of my Andrew A. Robinson who is said to be descended from James Robinson 'a noted Irish weaver' but there wasn't anything else connecting the two men.

The only reliable information I have on my Robinsons came from the Steer Genealogy because Andrew A. married Margaret Jackson (daughter of Ruth Steer). Many of the descendants of Isaac and Ruth Steer are documented in the Quaker records and Hinshaw has loads of them in VA and Ohio.
