To try to nail down the surnames in the family tree of my grandfather Roy Dennis Hopgood, I have ordered the following film through L.D.S. library.

1. St. Vincent Catholic Records--looking for Bartly intermarried with my Taylor family

2. Birth 1853-1857, 1859-1860
Marriages 1854-1857 1860-1862
Deaths 1852-1854-1860

3. three films covering wills 1811-1922

4. marriage bonds 1837-1840, 1841-1843,1844-1846,1847-1849, 1850-1851,1852- 1853, 1874-1877 seven different lines

5. two films marriage index for grooms 1860-1965

6. Order Books 1823-1863

7. Land Deeds 1783-1871

I think I will pay the additional $11.00 per film to have the L.D.S. library here put them in them their permanent collection.

I have a few books in my library compiled by Peyton Heady. In the 1980's I order through State of KY death records for a number of people connected with his four surnames.

Through The Fairfax Public Library I can get Heritage Quest on my home computer, they do not have as many of the census as Ancestry.Com, but this is free. Might check your local library if you can get the same.

I will be working on his:

1. Hobgood/Hopgood--Daniel born 1788 VA, believe goes back to a Thomas Hobgood of early Norfolk Co. VA. I see no connection with our mutal Frederick/Fauquier families.

2. Snyder--oldest known Sarah E. born 1841 near Cincinnati, Hamilton Co. OH. If I can't find a record as to her parents in above records, then really a "brick wall". There are Snyder/Snider in Frederick Co. VA, but no indication being the same family.

3. Rudd--Alice/Allie Rudd born 29th Sep 1867, her father was born in NC and mother in KY. I will be trying to fill out some of the families that married into her sibling's families. This surname goes back to NC then to early VA.

4. Taylor--Mary Ann Taylor born 11 Nov 1838 in either Logan or Union Co. KY. Various different Taylor families living in Union Co. KY not related to her group of Taylor, oldest known Wm. Taylor of SC settled in Logan Co. KY, his son Chapman Taylor (soldier in SC during Amer. Rev. War) his son Joshua settled in Union Co. KY. I need to do additional work in SC on this branch. I think these Taylor settled from GB into Barbados and then removed to SC.

I believe a branch of the Hollingsworth family settled in Union Co. KY. Members of the Taylor Family of Fauquier did settle in Union Co. KY.

If then goes through these Union Co. KY if I see people who once lived in Frederick or Fauquier Co. VA will post that message here.

Found the marriage record of Alexander Collett Jr. born 1853 in IN, father born in VA, his mother England married 24 Dec 1878 in Union Co. KY to Annie Livesay born 1852 KY, her parents born in KY.

I can't seem to find him listed on Federal Census 1860 & 1870.

She is found on the 1860 Union Co. KY: Elias Livesay 36, Nancy F. 31, George L. 10, Ann E. 8, Charles T. 6, Libby J. 3, Cyrus 1. According to the record of 1900 all the children she had.

I believe her mother for the 1870 census living with the Higgins family

Found on the 1900 Union Co. KY census said Nancy head of household:

Nancy Livesay born Dec 1829 KY, her parents born in KY, 70 years, widow, had five children, one dead, her sister Mary A. TULEY born Nov 1831, 68 years, widow, had three children all alive, her son-in-law Alexander Collett born Oct 1852, born in IN, his parents in England, 47 years, married 16 years, her daughter his wife Anne born Jan 1852, 22 years, born in KY, father in VA & mother in KY, their children her grandchildren: Nancy L. Collett b. Jun 1882 born in KY, father born in IN mother in KY, Mary A. Collett b. Aug 1888 born in KY, same.

I really do not know if related to our group of families or not.

I to not know if the above families were the same living in Frederick/Clarke counties, VA, but a few records point to VA. I am surprized to find Hite surname among the Catholic Records, not by the Burch family, for I believe they were Catholics in St. Mary Co. MD.

Also a few entries for Hollingsworth among the Catholic records. I believe I know how he connected to our group of Hollingsworth/McKay.
