This article appeared on the BBC News website. I figured it might generate a fresh look at the claims of Mary Carlyle being Indian.

I've wondered as a result of this, though if English records would ever have recorded a person's race during those early times or did they just jot down the names. Now, if it were Quaker records then I'm guessing that race would not have even been considered, given the history of Quakers absorbing part-Indian children into their Meetings from Quaker women who were captured by various Indian tribes, like the Shawnee.
