Frederick Co. VA Land Deed Book 30, 454, the children of Rush Marshall & his wife Joanna selling property to George Strother of King George Co. VA.

Children of Rush Marshall given as:

1. James Marshall & his wife Susannah
2. Elizabeth Marshall wife of Jesse Orear
3. Nancy Marshall wife of John Ferguson
4. Polly wife of James Green sold their portion earlier

Above Rush Marshall named as the son of Wm. Marshall of Hanover Parish, King George Co. VA. Dated 24th Jul 1746 probated 3 Feb 1748/9. His wife named as Ann and his children named

1. Wm. Marshall eldest son, four youngest son
2. George Marshall
3. Rush Marshall
4. Hudson Marshall
5. Merryman Marshall
6. Benj. Marshall he could be after Wm.
7. Elizabeth Marshall
8. Ann Marshall

There is one book by George H.S. King "King George Co. VA Wills 1721-1752" worth looking at and plenty of film offered by State of VA for King George Co. VA. I would check out land deeds to try to get the parentage of said Wm. Marshall.

William Marshall is probably where my great-great-grandfather, William Marshall Ferguson got his name from.

William STROTHER will dated 7 Apr 1726, probated 1 Jul 1726 mentions children: Wm., Francis, Margaret (dec'd), they all having their portion of his estate, Benj., Anthony, GEORGE,

grandson John (son of Francis),

wife Margaret

Since the George buying property in Frederick 1805, born about 1780 not the same George mentioned in the will. Most likely tied to the same group of Strother. I would check land in King George Co. VA about the same year as George Strother purchased land in Frederick Co. VA.

It looks like this county has better records available than King Wm. Co. VA.

Found very little today at the library, but did find Madison Co. VA Land Deed dated 7 Dec 1819, probated 27 May 1820 the clerk of Court Benj. Cave.

Reuben M. Strother & his wife Judith C. living in Culpeper Co. VA for "natural love and affection" & $1 paid by his brother James W. Strother of Madison Co. VA to have all his rights & interest in the estate left to him by their late father Wm. Strother and of their mother Mildred, they both signed the deed.

From the marriage books I have by John Vogt:

Reuben M. Strother (son of Wm.) & Judith C. Gibbs (daughter of Churchill Gibbs) married 25 Feb 1818 in Madison Co. VA by Rev. James Garnett.

His parents Wm. Strother & Milly Medley married in Culpeper Co. VA on 12 Oct 1790.
