I believe we have three different DNA matches for the couple George Poindexter & Mary P. Overton, one for son Thomas, one son Jacob & mine daughter Elizabeth who married George Hunt.
Some of the information posted on Ancestry about this family is a bit "squirrely". The family goes back into 1300's in Jersey but I have no idea if all the information is correct.
I am just trying to document the family while they were living in New Kent Co. VA. The lack of original records makes the task rather hard.
Found Ancestry DNA Project researcher "Brian Davis" descend of Philip Poindexter (1756-1818) in TN husband to Arshula Mansfield Poindexter (sic). He has about 105 years from my ancestor George Poindexter born 1651 died 1716 in VA.
Missing about 5 generations. Perhaps others may help.

Ancestry DNA Project has researcher "kappd1" descend of Frances Poindexter born 1762 VA.
She has to take her line back about three or four more generations to see if linked to my line of George Poindexter born 1651 Isle of Jersey died 12 Mar 1716 New Kent Co. VA.

Ancestry DNA researcher "kaybarker90" descend of Wm. Overton (1638-1697) wife Elizabeth Mary Waters their daughter Mary Elizabeth Overton born 1673 New Kent, VA married 1690 same location Robert Anderson died 1734 same location.
Others on Ancestry Tree gives Wm.'s father as Robert Overton born 1609 Holderness, York, England died 1679 England married to Ann Gardiner.
I do not see other surnames which I share with this researcher but Overton. Some on Ancestry give my line Mary Elizabeth Overton born 1651 New Kent, VA died 1734 same location married George Poindexter.
Some give her father as said Wm. Overton and have changed her birth year as 1671 which I do not think is correct.
She could be the daughter of said Robert Overton. Will have to check out the surname at public library.

DNA sample supplied by FT Wheeler 65 tree Wheeler Family Tree descend of Elizabeth Poindexter 1699-1735 living in the same part of VA as mine line married Wm. Payne (1685-1735) son of John. He does not give her parents.
Rather certain member of my group of Poindexter. This bit of DNA goes into the profile of Frances Hunt who married Cary Mitchell.

I believe Sarah Brownley & Fielding Sowers as well as Sarah's mother Betsey Mitchell Brownley were originally buried in the Brownley-Mitchell Cemetery near White Post where some of my Heflybower Branch are still buried.
I think Uncle Bev McKay had them removed to Bethel sometime during his lifetime. I'm guessing that had he lived longer he would have had them all transferred to Bethel. The Brownley-Mitchell Cemetery is in a remote location away from White Post and I have yet to actually go there. Burch McKay told me where it was located years ago but I just never felt comfortable trying to make the trek down those railroad tracks.
Ancestry Family Finder kit "Roy Bearden-White" we share one segment 16.1. He descends through Fielding Sowers and wife Sarah Brownley through son Wm. B. Sowers.
Still looking for a male member of our Sowers Family to do a Y marker test and share the results.
I believe I have a dozen or so DNA shares with descends of our Jacob Sowers of early Frederick Co. VA. Y marker test from our group would prove not related to all the other Sours, Sower or Sowers of MD/PA down to VA.

My grandson Ian Alexander Buck picked out of gene pool Sowers two matches supplied (by his father Travis Dee Buck) with Michael Lehew McKay (our double distant cousin McKay & Sowers) and Nancy Lee Sowers both descends of Fielding L. Sowers. Our common ancestors Daniel Sowers & Catherine Crum. I have a double line from his sons: James and Wm.
It would appear he did not pick out McKay DNA, because he has only 1 segment with Michael L. McKay.
He also picked out DNA matches with James F. Hopgood and Ken Warren Wells (Bolen cousin) and two matches with Elizabeth Ann Graves and Glen Lewis Graves (distant Fortune cousins).

My grandson has two matches: Roderic Wallace Fairweather and Pamela Margaret Thomson they are cousin and descends of Mackay who lived in Sutherland, Scotland 80 to 100 years after our James Mackay was in MA.
