I'm writing in hopes of drawing attention to the old Robert Mackay Jr. home located at Cedarville in Warren County, VA.

As you know this home was jointly purchased by the town of Front Royal and Warren County, VA a few years ago. Since then, nothing has really been done on the property towards it's restoration.

Different people in our family have inquired about it since then and we even mentioned it at the Collett-McKay Picnic back in August.

Some cousins at our annual Virginia Reunion in June suggested the idea of getting together one day and doing a clean-up job on the property. This, it is believed, would send a signal to show the county and town that we're interested in the upkeep and restoration of the property.

It has also been noted that there is some roof leakage there which should also be addressed, plus some other areas that need attention, notable the front door which had been damaged some years ago.

I'm interested in hearing any ideas on how we can go about addressing this urgent need.

I also don't want to forget about Fairview, which was at one time the home of Thomas Buck McKay that is located a few miles north of the Robert Mackay Jr. home. There are plans in the works for this property but I do not believe anything has been done at present. I do know the chimneys were dismantled and the stones set in the back in preparation to repair them.

I also want this to be a joint effort with Warren Heritage Society because I think it would be in all of our best interests that the properties are used for historical and cultural purposes.

Contact me with any ideas you might have.

Thanks.
