The most obvious thing that the DNA tests will confirm is that our Mackay family is not alone.

Since of all the records we have, the only members of Robert's family that are recorded are his wives and children. No mention (as of yet) of parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

Finding matches with people with variant names to 'Mackay' at least shows that some people are related to us prior to Robert.

I believe that the 'McKay' match I have is a descendant of James McKay and Mary Chester since he lived in west-central Ohio. I remember that some of James's branch of the family moved to Ohio and Indiana.
Ancestry DNA Project researcher "LB.JohansenCohn" tree LDJ-C Master Tree descend of Robert Mackay Sr. through second son James Mackay Sr. through his daughter Susanna McKay who married John Curle/Coile, named her father's will through their daughter Polly Curl who married Samuel Levesque their daughter Elizabeth married John Powers.

She also has Sowers ancestry, but a different group from mine.

Ancestry Family Finder kit "rctharp" 1 segment 9.8 descend through James Mackay Sr, through his daughter Susanna who married John Curl their son James who married Nancy Ann Hughs their son Hiram Hughes Curl who married Sarah Rice.

His Rudd Family is from CT and not linked to my Rudd of VA. I believe several people have joined the D.A.R. through the group in CT.

The individual with the last name of George in our Y-DNA study plans to upgrade his testing results to either a 32 or a 64 marker test. I don't remember which. When he has his results we'll see if he matches more closely as the rest of the people in our group. If that is the case it could open up some questions about his George line.
Hey Michael,
Not sure if you had an additional conversation with the George individual we match with? It is a 36 marker match. He states his ancestor ( which I have to still do some research on) as being from Wales. Name is William George. Born 1690 and died 1763. Again Welsh born. Lived in Chester Co. Pennsylvania. Found that online but have to find the paper trail. If accurate, we can say we have a family trail, back to the late 1600s, out of wales.
