The good news I have confirmed the statement given in S.E. Brown Jr.'s book dealing with Clarke Co. VA Houses. Our Carey Mitchell came from King Wm. Co. VA into Frederick Co. VA. Whoever gave him the information (sources never given) said that he was the emigrate from England.

The bad news a lot of the records for this location are not offered by State of VA. I guess they have been lost. I will have to check around a bit.

Carey Mitchell would have been born c1740 and I have found in a court record compiled source a James Michel (sic) posted bond in King Wm. Co. VA in 1722.

Frederick Co. VA Reel 178 has the estate settlement record of James Knight and his daughter Jane Knight was married to John Sowers (son of Jacob Sr.). This file contains court statement taken by said John Sowers (one of the administer of his father's in law estate). And these statement shows that he left the state of VA to take statements. I think one of the heirs of James Knight was a Col. Samuel Jack living in GA as 10 Mar 1797 and he was one of the statements taken by said J. Sowers.

Has a copy of the bond posted by Jean Knight, John Sowers, John LeFever & Samuel Jack to settle the estate.

James Knight's will dated 10 Aug 1786, probated 4 Sep 1787, named as his wife Jean, son-in-law John Sowers, grandson Wm. Dederick if he dies to go to Samuel Jack, John Sowers & John Lefever. Mentioned he had two other children, not named.

Listed in John Vogt's marriage book for Frederick Co. VA

Catherine Knight & Col. Samuel Jack on 13 Jun 1782.
Elizabeth Knight & John Lefever on 20 Jun 1786
