(Message sent to me via email from June Groshong)
Hi all,
I do not have Melany Magruder Mathis' email address but would like to
get in touch with her and get all the help and at least some one to come
with me when I can meet with a realtor/ developer at the new subdivision
,on R A Rd. , Falcon Pointe ,near Silex. Rusty Sitton is a descendant
of Phillip Sitton who is buried in that cemetery . Phillip was an early
member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.( Feb. 1852) I believe he had a
grist mill near Silex. .
I am hoping Rusty , Ronnie Sitton or Diannah Harrison who were at the
cemetery a few years ago could come . It would be nice if several of us
who are interested in the cemeteries of Lincoln Co.could meet with the
gentleman who is seemingly wanting to work with us, Glenn Mazuranic.
I spoke with Tammy Wells and she told me that they have NO intention of
destroying that Cemetery anymore than what it is already....Some of us
know that a man back in the 1950s took a dozier to it.
We think it was called Magruder Cemetery. Warren Magruder is tied to it
and his sister and I once corresponded about it. Bealls are buried in it
and the Magruders as well as Sittons I believe are buried in the
cemetery.
Folks , I am green at this and need your help. If anyone knows of a
deed,or anyone buried in the cemetery, or has any ideas, please let's
show an interest so that we can salvage one more cemetery. Please get
the word out. I don't know when he will call, but feel he will wait on
us if not too long. I'd hate to see part of the cemetery dozed up
because I didn't know the size of the cemetery.
Please tell anyone who may have an interest in this cemetery.

Missouri has an assortment of laws in place to help local officials oversee cemeteries, including those which have been abandoned.
One of the biggest legal concerns of cemetery preservationists is the continued access to small family plots that are now surrounded by private property. Missouri addressed that problem in 2000. According to the legislation that was passed, "any person who wishes to visit an abandoned family cemetery or private burying ground which is completely surrounded by privately owned land, for which no public ingress or egress is available, shall have the right to reasonable ingress or egress for the purpose of visiting such cemetery."
In a further effort to protect cemeteries, the same bill made it a Class A misdemeanor to "knowingly destroy, mutilate, disfigure, deface, injure or remove any tomb, monument or gravestone, or other structure placed in any abandoned family cemetery or private burying ground."
