Some of those names I think I've already heard in the Strother genealogy before so they are likely uncles or cousins.

I have make a lot of copies of the information about muster roll for Fauquier Co. VA. It first look I see only one of your surnames Strother on the lists.

1.Mosby's Rangers 42 VA Calvery

Strother, Rev. F.A. Chaplin from Steven City VA, attended 1920 reunion
Strother, Alfred killed or died Paris, VA.

The public library might have the company book on above group. Should have more information about the two men.

2. Co. K Warrenton Rifle on the film
same with this group, however none of your surname listed.

3. Blackhorse (Co. H of 4th VA Cavalry) turns out I have that book. The the film as a lot of information about their reunions. There were two Strother who serviced with the 4th Cav. but of a different company.

Strother, Mordecai W.: Co C born 5/7/22 Madison Co., house 9 miles from Culpeper CH 5'11", florid complexion, light hair, blue eyes, farmer, enlisted 4/24/61 Sgt, Courier 10/21/61, promated 2nd Lt. 12/14/61, elected Capt. 4/25/62, recommended for Lt Col. by Maj. Gen. Fitz Lee 2/27/65, captured 4/3/65 Namizone Church; Old Capitol Prison4/14/65, Johnson's Island 4/21/65, released on Oath 6/20/65 Johnson's Island; d. 7/6/83 Goshen; served in the Mexican War. COMPANY C. known as "Madison Invincibles"

Strother, Sidney: Co. I enlisted 5/8/61; transferred to Crenshaw's Battery Art. 4/29/62; mortailly wounded 6/27/62 Gaines' Mill. COMPANY I "Governor's Mounted Guard (Richmond).

It will take me some time to type up all the information, it took two hours just to xerox the copies.
I thought I have seen the book dealing with Mosby's Rangers 42 VA Cav. but I could not find it at the library. It should have the two Strother men: F.A. & Alfred.

The book by Lee A. Wallace Jr. "17 th VA Infantry" was at the library and the names which appear on the micofilm were in his book. This book also has a picture of our Ann E. (Lehew) McKay's brother Francis W. Lehew.

Well try to get all this information typed up as soon as I can.

It would be good to get a copy of Francis Wesley LeHew's picture.

The copies found in the book are not the best shots. Perhaps there is a way to enlarge and bright them if you put them on your web site.

Francis W. Lehew was the son of Eli & Sarah (Branson) Lehew. Information about him was supplied to Hunter Branson McKay from his granddaughter Frances L. (Cabell) Jett. He is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery of Front Royal, VA. I am sure you have seen his large tombstone. His brother buried next to him.

Buried across the lane from him, lots and lots of Buck family members. Also send a picture of Richard Bayly Buck. He was the son of Marcus Blakemore & Jane Letitia (Bayly) Buck. I believe you will find their graves at Prospect Hill Cemetery as well.

Also a picture of Wm. O. Rust. He was the son of John B. & Nancy (Mcafee) Rust. He is also buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery, VA.

Thanks for sending them. They arrived today. It's good to see what Uncle Wesley looked like. Perhaps his sister favoured him but we'd have to have a picture of her to know for sure. I've asked about for a photo of Thomas Buck McKay but nothing has turned up.

Only description of him comes from Uncle Hunter.

I am just beginning to finish up my last book dealing with Frederick Co. VA Wills 1837-1865. When I am finished with it I will type up and send you the listing of the soldiers of Fauquier Co. VA. Just C.S.A.

I will check the type setting I used with the last group of soldiers. If you want larger printing let me know.
