Frederick Co. VA Will Book 15,47 of James STROTHER his will named the following people in the following order:

1. named as his wife Elizabeth to enjoy his leased land with dwelling house, named food stuff, stock animals, horses and slaves: Daniel, Jeffrey, George, Alice, Letty & Vinny. All the rest of his estate divided between his children:

2. named as his daugher Mary to have slaves: Krisley & her child George

3. named as his son Enoch to hav his slave Levi

4. named as his daughter Susan to have his slave Ann

5. named as his daughter Elizabeth to have his slave Sarah & her first son.

6. named as his daughter Delia (wife of Nathaniel Templeman) held in trust his slave woman Clara and certain named household furniture.

7. named as his son John to have his slave Armistead

8. named as his son George to have his slave Frederick

9. named as his son Wm. to have his slave Nelly

10. named as his daughter Jane to have his slave girl Lucy

11. named as his son James to have slave girl Rachael

Executors of the will: sons Enoch & John

Wit: John D. Ferguson, Michael Dearmont & Peter Dearmont

Securities: Wm. Strother, James Strother, John D. Ferguson & Peter O'Rear

James Strother's will dated 7 Mar 1823, probated 5 Jan 1829.

You can view a copy of his will through State of VA inter-library loan system, or L.D.S. library. I do not know if the court house would make a copy or not. Someone told me Handley Library as a "help" line on their web site.

I have now compiled the Frederick Co. VA Wills into three books:

1743-1816 for $25.00
1816-1837 for $20.00
1837-1865 for $20.00

I have started doing land deeds my first book is done

1743-1765 Books 1-10 for $20.00
