I have the names of many of the people buried at the Upper Ridge Friends Burying Ground.
This is the cemetery that adjoined the Upper Ridge Meeting (which is no longer active) and is located on Apple Pie Ridge Road in Frederick County.
You can click on this link to see the list:
http://www.geocities.com/mckyrbnsn/meet ... ridge.html
I also have links to some Rootsweb cemetery lists on different pages in the website.
Particulary Nineveh, Rockland, Fairfax (Waterford) Meeting, Prospect Hill, & Meade Memorial Church. These were submitted by another individual and are not currently housed on our website's server but are instead stored on the Rootsweb system.
I also have links to a few Steer family related wills housed on Rootsweb as well.
I am interested in knowing whether or not there was a list compiled of the graves at Bethel. If not, I'll likely have to go and compile one myself.
I do believe I'll have to take a copy of the one for Rockland and compare it with the graves currently there and update it accordingly.

I forgot to mention I also have a link to the listing of graves in the Brownley Mitchell graveyard located near White Post.
This is also on Rootsweb.
This is where Fielding Sowers & Sallie Brownley were originally buried before Uncle Bev had them removed to Bethel along with Sallie's mother.
Sallie's father is most likely still at the Brownley-Mitchell Graveyard.
I'm wondering why he wasn't removed as well and it could likely be that this was all done around the time of Uncle Bev's death due to a auto accident. I'm thinking that had he not perished that day he would have had Archibald Brownley's graved removed to Bethel as well.

Hunter B. McKay stated that grave yard located on the land of J.H. MacKay-Smith in sight of H.& W. Railroad, close to Warren-Clarke Line. I do not know the year he made his notes.
Frances Barnett born 1775 died 1847
Archibald Brownley born 1764 died 1805
Betsey Brownley born 1772 died 1845
Eliza Brownley born 1802 died 1847
John Brownley born 1798 died 1847
William Brownley born 1800 died 1840
John C. Mitchell born 1780 died 1837
Fanny B. (daughter of Samuel & Mary E. Heflybower) born 1847 died 1848
Louise S. (daughter of Samuel & Mary E. Heflybower born 1841 died 1842
Fielding Sowers born 1788 died 1863
Sarah Sowers born 1792 died 1858
I am assuming you know how all these people are related to our famlies.

I know the relationship with all of them except Frances Barnett, although it sounds familiar.
Fielding and Sallie Sowers along with her mother Betsey Brownley were removed to Bethel by Uncle Bev. I'm guessing that this happened somewhere near the time he died in 1965. I believe if he hadn't died he would have also moved Archibald Brownley's grave and who knows, the rest of them as well since Brownley-Mitchell is in such a remote location it's difficult for people to go and visit it.
I've wanted to visit it and when Burch was living he told me where to find it but it required a good walk along the railroad near White Post so I didn't make the attempt. Maybe I'll do that one day.

I need more information to figure out who was the Frances BARNETT born 1775 died 1847. I have a copy of her will which gives me the following relations:
1. niece Sarah E. Mitchell (daughter of my brother James Mitchell)
2. niece Frances S. Gatewood
3. nephew James Mitchell (son of brother James Mitchell)
4. niece Frances Brownley
5. niece Eliza Brownley
6. nephew John Brownley
We know through land division, inventory & marriage bond. Carey Mitchell died by 24 Jul 1798. His heirs: Elizabeth Brownley (formerly Mitchell), James Mitchell, John Mitchell & Wm. Mitchell and his widow Frances sold portion of his estate. On 21 Sep 1799 in Frederick Co. VA Frances Mitchell (relict of Carey Mitchell) married Ambrose Barnett. We know from various sources the children of Carey Mitchell were:
1. Elizabeth Mitchell b. 9 Nov 1772 m. c1790 in Frederick Co. VA Archibald Brownley, d. 13 Mar 1845 "Pleasant Green" Fred/Clarke Co. VA. This is your line and grave markers at Brownley-Mitchell Grave Yard.
2. James Mitchell b. c1776 m. 14 Feb 1801 in Frederick Co. VA Susanna Catlett, d. 1827 Whitepost, Fred/Clarke Co. VA
3. John C. Mitchell b. 1780, d. 14 Sep 1837 "Pleasant Green" Clarke Co. VA.
4. Capt. Wm. Mitchell b. 6 Aug 1783, m. c1811 Matilda Johnston, d. 29 Sep 1835 "Lan Grange", Warren Co. VA. My line.
Give this information I do not see how Frances Barnett b. 1775 died 1847 could be the child of Carey & Frances Mitchell. I do not know if this Frances was single or widow. Unless Carey Mitchell fathered a child with another woman, then married to his wife Frances ? Do you have any ideas ?

I don't think I have anything different on our Mitchell family than you have. The name did seem familiar so I know I've seen it before.
I am interested in the Gatewood connection. Could this be the same Gatewoods who are descendants of Robert Mackay Sr.? One I remember in particular is Charles Gatewood who was involved in Geronimo's surrender.

The one you mentioned in your query, Charles Gatewood, son of John & Emily D. (Bare) Gatewood, listed on page 281 of my MacKay Book. I only know his grandparents being Susannah McKay & Charles Gatewood.
Said Charles Gatewood filed in Shenandoah Co.VA a Guardian Request dated 13 Feb 1832, he appointed Chaney & Wright Gatewood as guardians.
Chaney Gatewood is the one who married Frances S. Mitchell. He was the son of John Gatewood born c1775 & Sarah Deyerle. They were married in Shenandoah Co. VA 22 Jun 1789. I do not have a complete listing of all their children, the above Charles would have been one. Said John died in Fred/Clarke Co. VA 1832. If his will is filed in Frederick I should be viewing it sooner that later. Amelia C. Gilbreath Shenandoah Co. VA Wills 1772-1850, doesn't have it listed. But she just abtracted the wills and not all the legal records. Which means it is missing lots of information.
The will of Philip Gatewood proved 11 Jun 1793 named wife Susanna, children: Catherine Catlett, John Gatewood & Elizabeth Bowman.
So I will have to wait to connect the two different groups of Gatewood lines one intermarried with our McKay and the other with our Mitchell.

According to the internet listing of cemeteries. The one compiled by Josiah L. Dickinson dated 18 Nov 1936, gives the grave stone date for mystery Frances Barrnett as born 21 Dec 1785, died 18 Jan 1847. This would place her birth after my ancestor Wm. Mitchell 6 Aug 1783.
But I will have to wait to get more information. She did not enjoy the landed estate of Carey Mitchell. I need to find out why.

The only way out of the mystery as to who was Frances Barnett, would be if she was the child of Ambrose Barnett & Frances (widow of our Carey Mitchell), but she would have to be born about June 1800. I do not see how two different compilers could have recorded the year that far off.
The Frances Barnett who died 18 Jan 1847, stated that she was sister to James Mitchell, perhaps she was the step-sister to said James.
I need to find the will of Ambrose Barnett. According to the wills in Frederick Co. VA, he was the son of James Barnett, will probated 4 Jun 1782. His mother Milly/Milla filed her will in Frederick Co. VA 31 Jan 1814.
