I found in Frederick Co. VA Will Book 10, page 343, will of Anthony Crum, dated 28 Jun 1814, probated 5 Oct 1818, named as one of his children Katy Sowers.

I am looking for the a woman named Catherine, wife of Daniel Sowers Sr. She was born about 1753. Listed on 1830 Frederick Co. VA 70 to 80 years of age. She died 1839 in Clarke Co. VA.

Above Anthony's other children: Anthony (given his land on Long Marsh), Jane Koontz, Anne Mauck & Rebecca Boocher (sic). His wife was named Elizabeth and grandson John Crum was his executor.

The only other Sowers man who was married to a woman named Catherine/Katy would have been John Jr., son of John & Jane (Knight) Sowers.

I hope other records will prove or not, if said Katy (Crum) Sowers, was indeed one of my ancestors.

The will filed in Frederick Co. VA in 1818 by Anthony Crum named as a daughter Katy Sowers. He did not name who was her husband. We are looking for the wife of our Daniel Sowers.

I think I left the problem was this the wife of Daniel Sowers? I think I had to find a Henry Sours of Shenandoah Co. VA, if he was the husband of Anthony's daughter Caty. Hope to find out more as I go through Shenandoah Co. VA wills and land deeds.

I have found two brothers Gilbert & Abraham living in Frederick Co. MD as adults 1755. Ancestry.com has family group sheets for Gilbert Crum, not his brother Abraham. Gilbert Crum was born in Kingston, Ulster, NY the same place as our DuBois ancestors.

A researcher has put in their computer bank the chart of Anthony Crum who died in Frederick Co. VA in 1819. The researcher did not place in the bank his wife's name nor his children. They have his birth date as 1740, but I think birth date should be c1732. To have been the father of our Catherine (Crum) Sowers. This is the woman Michael has a picture of her grave marker found in Reformed German Church Graveyard of Winchester, VA. Same location we know our Jacob Sowers was a member. Which is why I think she was more likely to have married our Daniel Sowers of Winchester, Frederick Co. VA than Henry Sours/Sowers of Shenandoah Co. VA.

I believe the problem was there were three different Anthony Crum living in Frederick Co. VA and researchers have mixed together these men.

They show the family coming into Frederick Co. VA directly from Germany.

I will see what turns up in Frederick Co. MARYLAND. To see if the family moves down to Frederick Co. VA.

Ancestory.com DNA section has two different marker under Crum I 2a and Rlb. I have not tried to tract down which group they belong. They list the results under the name of the person who supplied the test sample.

Family Tree DNA as a better group of Crum test samples showing the same two markers, but they list the results under the oldest known ancestor.

Both sites show Crum, Crume & Crumpe under one grouping. They are, of course, really not the same family.

The Family Tree DNA has a nice piece on if the surname is English or German.

I really do not want to go flat out researching this surname until I am 100% sure if Daniel Sowers' wife was a CRUM.

I have DNA matches with researchers who say they have Crum in their charts.
Could prove the maiden name of said Catherine as Crum.

I am finding more cousins in Ancestry DNA to keep me very busy.

I am depending on researchers to give the correct information on their various pedigree charts. I am aware of the mistakes connected with my Etta Double Sowers and researcher refuse to delete or change their material.

Looking to prove that Katy Sowers named in the will of Abraham Crum was our Catherine Sowers who married Daniel. Her grave marker picture on line as Catherine M. Sowers. Maiden given by these researchers Wharton.

1. Mon_88210 line of Wm. Crum (1685-1745) has also Ridgeway & Wright

2. Kempriji line of Effie Crum b. 1891

3. Ginnietx324 line of Hannah Crum b. 1733 d. 1749

4. V.M. private

5. M.P. line of Mary Crum b. 1775, d. 1831

6. Wm. Johnson line of Adam Crum b. 1755, d. 1851

7. P.W. private

8. bedell13 line of Henry Herman Crum or Crummy Sr. she also has Ball, Cox, Mitchell & Stokes, so I could be related to her through one of those surnames

9. Jcp946 line of Matthias Crum b. 1738, d. 1779.

Researcher 1 & 8 I could share DNA with each through another blood line.

Researcher "morganjr_1" & I share DNA material. His oldest known HAAN ancestor was Andre Haan b. 21 Dec 1797 Remich, Orevenmacher, Luxembourg.

our line Maria Eliszabeth Haan born 1690 Rhineland, Germany, her father given as Heinrich.

She would marry Johann Anton Crum their son Anthony Crum would marry Freny Cyphert and their son Anthony Crum would marry Elizabeth.......? their daughter Catherine Crum would marry Daniel Sowers.

I believe I have other Haan DNA matches on Ancestry, but I have not found the time to check all of them out.
