A Letter to Our Friends

We wish to thank the members and friends of the Waterford Foundation for your support during this most challenging period in our 60 years existence. As many know, if we are unable to purchase the Phillips Farm, in the heart of the Waterford National Historic Landmark, we not only risk losing our National Historic Landmark designation, but worse, we would surely lose 270 years of our American History.

I write to thank our supporters and to let every one know that the deadline for raising the money has been pushed back from October 31st to December 15th. I am also extraordinarily pleased to report that we have raised $3.4m of the $3.9m needed, an amount that seemed impossible only a few short months ago, but an amount which represents the generous contributions of friends far and wide. As challenging as this campaign has been, the response for help has been a remarkable affirmation of the importance of saving Waterford. From a Social Studies class in Beloit, WI which read about our efforts then pooled their money to send in a contribution, to donations from New Zealand, Australia, England and the lemonade stand the Erickson children had right here in Waterford - coins and checks have been added to the till everyday. Hundreds of individual contributors have purchased a Waterford Preservation Bond, many to give as gifts to their children, as the children are, after all, the ones for whom we must preserve our history.

To all who have given, you have our eternal gratitude. To all who would like to contribute, we welcome your help. Especially when we are so close to purchasing the Farm! Buy a Waterford Preservation Bond which, while non-redeemable financially, is a gift that will last for generations.

We need your help now and you will be forever rewarded, knowing you made the difference in saving our history for generations to come.

Thank you each for your invaluable support, guidance and commitment.

I will continue to keep you informed of all major events.
