I added a link to another website in the Civil War section of this website.

This one deals with the Battle of Front Royal and has two pages dealing with McKay family members.

Click on this link to see it:

In June I am thinking about viewing other films dealing with soldiers who serviced from the counties of Fauquier, Culpeper & Shenandoah.

Are you interested in posting these list to your site ?

I think it would be good to have those lists on this website.

Thanks.

Culpeper just has 1812 soldier list on film. I can get for the civil war Shenandoah, Fauquier & Frederick counties, VA

I wanted Culpeper Co. VA because my gr-gr-grandfather John Washington Ball & his brother were with 4th Virginia Cavalry. I do have Kenneth L. Stiles book in my personal library.

This book does have two Strother listed: Mordecai W. & Sidney. Do these names mean anything to you ?

I'm not really familiar with them. They are likely related somehow on my great-grandmother's side.

I'm only aware of two direct ancestors who served in the Civil War on my dad's side. They being Edwin L. Heflybower and Thomas Buck McKay. The rest are various uncles and cousins, most of whom I'm familiar with are on the Sowers and McKay sides. I believe there are some LeHew uncles (brothers of Ann Elizabeth) who served.

On my grandmother's side, I doubt there were any of my direct ancestors who served. I am certain that Joseph Steer Robinson did not since he was a Quaker. I'm not sure about William Marshall Ferguson.

Now, my mom's side is another story. Since I'm not too knowledgable about that side I'm sure I would find that some of my direct ancestors who fit the right age range may have served. Check with the genealogy records on Maverick's Corner to see if any of those names show up on rosters.
