There has been some discussion in the GenForum about the family of Zachariah McKay of Switzerland Co. After visiting the Switzerland Co. courthouse last week and getting rid of some clinkers in my own records, I would like to report the following. Switzerland Co. Probate Order Book B (1837-1843) page 58 shows that in the February Term of 1838, the following were named as children and heirs of Zachariah McKay. Robert, Abraham, Henry, Barbara, and Samuel, all older than 21. Those under 21 years old were Marion, Lewis, Charles Johnston, and Sarah Josephine McKay. This is in fairly wide divergence from some of the material that has been printed about this family. Zachariah McKay's first wife Sarah (Sallie) Lanham was a sister to Melinda Lanham who m. Asa McKay and Mary Lanham who m. Abisha McKay. All of these families eventually moved to Jefferson/Switzerland Co.

Children of Zachariah McKay and Sallie Lanham
