Frederick Co. VA Book 40, page 478

Dated 20 Sep 1817: This deed stated that Thomas Shepherd's estate would be divided into NINETEEN portion, one portion issued to Hannah Jackson, wife of Wm. Jackson. They sold their portion to Wm. Castleman. In John Vogt's Frederick Co. VA Marriage bond two dates for marriages of

Wm. Jackson & Hannah Shepherd 18 Feb 1812 & 20 Feb 1818.

Same Deed Book two other deeds page 576 & 578

Josiah Shepherd named as heir of said Thomas

Joseph Shepherd named as heir of said Thomas

So my guess SIXTEEN other names should be connected to this division.

I have not tried to study the Shepherd family, I just pulled this information, because I know you are interested in the Jackson family.

I am desperately searching for Shepherd's of Frederick Co. My GGGGrandfather Robert Shepherd married Catherine Earhart in Frederick Co on Oct. 4, 1824. James Dyer's name is also on the document. Married by Thos. Littleton. I know that there were a few different Shepherd families living in Frederick at the time, yet, I cannot find out which family he might belong to. I have an old deposition that John Earhart gave in regard to mill operations in which Thomas Shepherd is plaintiff and David Shepherd, Joseph Berry, and I believe the name is Edward Hall are defendants. It states that at one time John Earhart (Grandfather of Catherine, Robert's wife) lived with David Shepherd.
In the VA Personal Property Taxes, it states that Robert Shepherd owned 1 horse. In 1827, he owned 1 horse and 1 slave. After that he moved to Loudoun Co. He is listed there in the 1830 census. He died @ 1832. I have a few more pieces of information, but it is all confusing.
I am wondering if anyone who is researching in Frederick County has come across these names or can offer me any advice as to where to turn to next.
