Dee, got your book it is great!!...you're having the same trouble with the McKay family that I am having with the Coats family...and there was a group of Coats in Chester County also Quaker and that married into the Newbold and Ridgeway families...the references and documents are most appreciated...the Hog/Hogge/Hoge/Hogg name also shows up in SC and Charles Coats purchases land from one I believe it is and another has land adjoining a William Coats...John, James and Lewis Hog I believe are the names that show up in SC....this is later in the 1700s...I can't seem to get out of SC...(g)...

I suspect to locate the origin you may have to resort to English, Irish or Scottish Records...maybe they'll get them on line sooooonnnn....

The Coats family has been associated with these families as well...

Ok, but which Brown family was your Coats related to ? So many different Brown families. I rather doubt that the Brown family who married into the Ridgeway family is the same as Ann Brown who married Robert MacKay.

I also have a Brown family in early Burlington Co. NJ who married into my Hampton family, came from another part of England, also a Quaker family.

I have Budd ancestry in connection with my Collins/Garwood family. I did just a very little research on that line, first few generation in NJ. What I found recorded in my book dealing with the ancestry of Elizabeth (Antrim) McKay, wife of Jacob McKay III. You can view it on film at your nearest L.D.S. library. They also have lots of other family histories dealing with just about all early Quaker families.

I also have a few Brown connections. It's about as common a name as Smith.

In my Robinson ancestry according to an old newspaper article I go back to a James Robinson & Mary Brown. James was said to be a "noted Irish weaver" so I assume his wife was also an immigrant. I believe these to be the grandparents of Andrew Alexander Robinson who married Margaret Jackson (from my Steer Genealogy).

Still other Brown families I'm familiar with are as follows: The family of William Brown who married Mary Jackson (sister of Margaret above). These Browns are the ones recorded in your little segment on our Job family.

Another Brown connection are the ones that intermarried with the Hite family. These also intermarried with the Parkins branch of the Isaac Steer family. Offhand I don't remember the exact names but I do believe they are also connected with the Brown family I just described. I do have an old newsclipping of a well-known member of this particular branch of Browns. This was the obituary of Miss Elisan Brown who was a well-known Quaker. I have a photo of different relatives & others standing in front of Centre Meeting House in Wincheter and she is among them. She lived to an old age but never married.
