There is also a pension record for a Robert McKay born in 1760, Shennandoah (sp) VA...he applied for the pension in IL ... is this the same Robert McKay son of James Mckay and Mary Chester?

Also the Moses McKay in that area...how is he related...seems his land was in IL but the newpaper article on him was in OH?

The Moses McKay who went to Ohio is the son of Andrew Mackay, son of Robert Mackay Jr., son of Robert Mackay Sr.

This Moses married Abigail Shinn and is the ancestor of those who primarily attend the Collett-McKay picnic.

Robert Mackay Sr. had a son name Moses Mackay as well. He would be the great-uncle of the Moses mentioned above.

This Robert McKay is son of James McKay and Mary Chester, but he applied in Indiana. He lived in Milton Twp. in Jefferson Co., Ind. near the Ohio River, near the Switzerland Co. border on the East. The Moses McKay that lived in this immediate area, that I am aware of, was Moses, son of James McKay and Patsy Johnston, son of Robert's brother James and Mary Cheek. This Moses owned land about two miles to the east of Robert (but in Switzerland Co.

I'll bet that Moses & Robert are pretty common names in our family altogether. In the Winchester area where I live we've got a few folks in the family named Robert at least.
