I do not believe you have "upgraded" your DNA on file with Family Tree DNA to have Family Finder.

Your matching the other male McKay Y markers means you share a common male ancestor, which we know through documents means Robert Mackay Sr. But your Y marker is just one of your lines in your entire chart. You can, of course, test for your female line. You are depending on others to supply to you all the other Haplogroups that make up your pedigree.

The Family Finder is Autosomal test allows you to see what pieces of DNA you share with other researchers on your entire chart. They say up to five generations, but I am matching with 8th or 9th cousins. Perhaps someday they will figure out how to find all Haplogroups we contain in our make up, but can't do that now.

I have been posting all my Family Finder (Autosomal) matches here on Michael's site. I am matching piece of DNA with members of the Stout Family of early NJ. I am trying to figure out where on my chart I might have Stout ancestry. Could be Mackay, Hampton or Fleming. These are the only families I had in early NJ.

You are willing to do the work you can prove the various blood lines on your chart by matching with other researchers who share a common ancestor on any of your various blood lines.

My guess is you should show a match with all the kits now on file who descend from Moses Sr. If you match with me, Michael or Gerard I do not know. I have matched with only one of the kits from Moses Sr. line.

Just do the test and see what you can find out.

Found on Ancestry DNA Project I have 36 DNA matches with researchers who descend from Robert Stout of Early Monmouth Co. NJ. Some of them I share additional blood lines, so they are not as important to me to help find our link to said Robert Stout. We have a good working listing of their children:

1. John Stout m. Elizabeth Crawford, one Autosomal Match could be clean match

2. Alice Deliverance Stout m. John Throckmorton, plenty of researchers have placed her line in Ancestry Tree, but no DNA as of now.

3. Richard Stout m. Mary Seymour, one match but this researcher could share Zumwalt back in Germany

4. James Stout m. Elizabeth Truaz, six matches, but two researchers share Mangum or Melton.

5. Penelope Stout m. James Brown, this is the match with "Jerry112" I will be looking for additional matches with this couple. This is our best hope of finding our link.

6. Sarah Stout m. John Pike

7. Jonathan Stout m. Anna Bollen, have five matches, do not see other surnames in common.

8. David Stout m-1 Sarah Parker, m-2 Rebecca Ashton, have 9 matches, lots of them descend of Freegift Stout, one researcher shares my Taylor ancestry, Melton ancestry, Hampton ancestry, descend of my Daniel Sowers, so limits four out of the nine.

9. Benj. Stout m. Mary Leonard, two matches and I do not see other lines.

10. Peter Stout m. Mary Bullen, have two matches, one could be a distant Zumwalt and perhaps Edwards distant cousin.

Ancestry DNA does not have Chromosome Browser, so I can not tell how much DNA we share or if we share more than one blood line in common.

The surnames linked with the blood line of said "Jerry112" looking for Brown of early MA to NJ, Dormer of MA, Haverland of York, England, Stout, Bee & Kent/Van Prince.

Now, if can get some of my McKay cousin to see if they are sharing this Stout DNA, then I can pin down where this DNA is found on my chart.

I am missing maiden name of wives of my Noah Hampton & Andrew Hampton and they also lived in early Monmouth Co. NJ. I do have distant Hampton cousin, if they are showing these matches then perhaps that where this link will be found.

Ancestry Family Finder researcher "TB" tree called ToRfoot Brownlee, she descend from son John who married Elizabeth Crawford through daughter Frances Stout (1699-1750) married Job Throckmorton. She is the second from emigrates son John. I do not see other surnames on her tree that I have in common.

I hope in the future to figure out why I am showing all these matches with other researcher who descend from this man !! Link has to be somewhere on my tree.

Ancestry Family Finder researcher "RDM" admin. Loreena6272 tree Murphy Family Tree another descend of Peter's line from the emigrate. She has Yancey of NC which I am interested in but have not found I have that ancestry. That surname is used as first name among my NC line. Parts of her tree not given so our match could be elsewhere.

Two other researchers "PJCW" and "jmeanhart002" descend from the same line and I have three Stout on Family Tree DNA: Randall Henry, Richard J. Henry and Scott David Henry.

Where my link with Stout is I still have no idea.

Ancestry Family Tree DNA researcher 'megancox2000" tree called Cox Family Tree descend of Peter Stout, son of the emigrate. She has Crawford Buck (1889-1958) born and died in TN. There are death records and draft notices on line for him. He married Winne Ledford. There are just so many Buck Family in US to say if related to the ones who lived in Warren Co. VA. I really "long shot" to think he is linked to our McKay, Branson or Lehew.

Also has Albert McCoy (sic) born 1872 TN. Could be related to our I just do not know.

Since Mary as kindly given me her line of Mckay kit Kenneth McKay I can check to see if he has these matches with the three Henry men. He does not.

The reason I am asking the question is to try to rule out a link with these Stout to ancestry of our Ann Brown who married Robert Mackay. I still leave the door open that Ann Brown was the mother of all Robert's children and Moses Mackay was his youngest child. There must be a reason why I only match with one descend of the Moses line and not matching with the rest. But it would appear they match with each other.

Or my link would be with my Hampton or Fleming families who lived in early NJ. I do not see any other place for all these matches with this surname STOUT.

A William Hogg of Freehold, Monmouth Co. NJ to Chester Co. PA (1718-1730) then down to Winchester, VA where he died 1749. His wife named Barbara Hume. I have the names of his children.

I want to find out if I can show some of his DNA in my profile linked to Mackay. I know members of a Hogg (various spellings) married into later generation of our known Mackay/McKay.

It would appear this Wm. Hogg followed along with our Robert from NJ to PA to VA. There were Hogg has listed on the ship who were prisoners from English Civil War.

Two of the Mackay entries which I show entries: Pamela Margaret Thomson and Roderic W. Fairweather both also have Hogg on their listing of names. Kenneth Mckay does not show a match with them.

Glenn Joseph Hill who is a known descend of my Thatcher line, also has Hogg of Frederick Co. VA but we are just showing one piece of DNA.

Hume is a real common name as well.
