In H. Clay Reed & George J. Miller's book called "The Burlington Court Book--A record of Quaker Jerisprudence in West New Jersey 1680-1709" found on page 227 the following entry:
Court of Sessions and Pleas February 20th 1699
"Restore Lippincut brought an Irish boy into Court (he having newly bought him to serve him till the age of One and Twenty Years) and craved that the Court would give an Estimate of his age, the boys name being Daniel MacCay be adjudged a Eleven Years of and so to serve ten Years, as by the his Contract."
The big question was this the same Daniel McKay/MacKay who died in Freehold, NJ in 1733. Left a will named wife and children. He would be have been about the same age group as "our" Robert MacKay.
Information about him found in my MacKay book page 5. This is now the oldest date I have found the MacKay name in NJ.
