I just recieved an e-mail from someone which contained an attachment called "Happy99.exe". Fortunately I have a virus detection program with my Hotmail account which I ran it through and it detected it as a virus.
The person who sent me the e-mail sent me an earlier one on Aug. 20 asking about genealogical information. This one was 1k in size. The second one came soon after which had the same title but it was 14k in size.
I'm guessing that the person who sent it wasn't aware that a virus was sent. Some viruses attach themselves to your e-mail program systems so that whenever you send out a message it automatically sends out another one with the same title and attaches the "Happy99.exe" to it. I believe that's the case with this person.
Since I believe this individual wasn't aware of this I'm not holding her responsible but I did e-mail her back and informed her of what I discovered.
I just thought I'd pass this along to you all in case you might have encountered a similar virus.
**Please run any attachments through a virus scanner before opening them**
