In reading a book titled "First across the Continent", covering the various expeditions of Alexander McKenzie up to the Beaufort sea, and then on to the Pacific Ocean, I ran across names of Thomas and Alexander MacKay. Thomas was purported to have been McKenzie's most trustworthy lieutenant on the push down the Fraser to the Pacific coast. He met an ignominious end off the coastline of present-day Astoria, being beaten to death in the water by a canoe-load of women. I would appreciate any further information on these brothers, if anyone out there has it. If not, you are now aware that MacKays played an important role in the opening of the Canadian Frontier.
