July 20, 2016
Dear Bethel Members and Friends:
Sunday, August 28, 2016, at 11:00 AM, is the date for Old Bethel's Annual Meeting and
Traditional Service.
This year, Matthew T. Peterson will be our honored speaker. Born in West Berlin, Germany,
he grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. He currently resides in Winchester with his wife, Anne, and their
two children, Thomas and Clara. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (pre-med) from
the University of Miami, Florida and his Master's degree in International Affairs from the Yonsei
University Graduate School of International Studies in Seoul, Republic of Korea. He also holds a
Certificate in Volunteer Administration. Early in his career, Matt served as a medical operations
officer in the U.S. Army. His next position was serving as Deputy to the President of CEO at Project
HOPE. In January of this year, Matt became the Executive Director at Habitat for Humanity (HFH)
of Winchester-Frederick County, Virginia. He is responsible for promoting the overall Affiliate and
ReStore vision and direction and ensuring its ability to increasingly serve families in need with simple,
decent, affordable housing. We are pleased that Matt will be with us on August 28th.
The officiant will be The Reverend Richard Stinson. Carol Westervelt will be our organist.
Board member, Charles McIntosh, will be giving a report on the successful roof campaign.
We are again blessed by Madeline MacNeil and her dulcimer and look forward to some
very special music.
At the conclusion of the service, there will be the traditional "under the oaks" covered dish
picnic, rain or shine. Please bring food to share and a lawn chair.
We are enclosing a 2016-2017 dues and contributions form for continuing restoration
projects. A tax-deductible contribution to Old Bethel would be greatly appreciated.
Please note: We have a new address: P. O. Box 283, Millwood, VA 22646. Also, please
advise us if your mailing address has changed.
We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting on August 28th!!
