Raise the Roof II

Bethel is in immediate need to raise $75,000 dollars to repair the roof and floor of the meetinghouse. The goal is to have the repair work done before we have our annual Christmas Carols and Lessons service on 20 December 2015.

$25,000 has been raised so far so we need to get the remaining $50,000.

Click on this link for the story that appeared in The Winchester Star: Raise the Roof II.

We appreciate any donation you can send to help with this cause.

We ask you to make a contribution to the roof campaign in addition to your annual dues.

July 29, 2015
Dear Members and Friends: It is with a mixture of excitement and trepidation that the Board of Trustees for Bethel announces its Annual Meeting and Picnic on August 23, 2015, at 11:00 AM. The excitement centers upon our speaker, Dr. John Howe, recently retired from Project Hope, where he gained international recognition for his many accomplishments as that organization's Executive Director, as well as on our special music from Gerald "Chip" Connelly, who rejoins us with his stirring ability to make music come alive. The trepidation is directed to a discovery following the Lessons and Carols Service in December that there were structural defects in our ceiling joists which prevent use of the building until it is repaired. Many of you may remember that we had a similar situation in 2004. Repairs that were thought to have remedied the situation did not endure. To address this problem, the Board has embarked on a "Raise the Roof II Campaign" with a targeted goal of $75,000.00. I am pleased to report that the Members of the Board have committed unanimously to this campaign and a portion of the targeted goal has already been received by their generous contributions. With only about $35,000.00 in available funds, however, we face a significant shortfall. Our objective is to raise the necessary funds by September 1st, so that the Lessons and Carols Service, a seasonal favorite, may go on as scheduled on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at 5:00 PM. We ask you to make a contribution to the roof campaign in addition to your annual dues. As always, click here for a dues and contribution form, and we urge you to join us with an enthusiastic donation. We will have a more detailed report at the Annual Meeting, but we remain dedicated to the maintenance, repair and preservation of this magnificent structure. Both the Meeting and the Picnic will be held on the grounds at Bethel as we did the last time we went through this. Should last minute weather conditions be exigent, the number to call about confirmation of the Meeting is 540-837-1974. Please join us for a festive day, and please assist us to the best of your ability in attaining our goal for the welfare of Bethel. Thank you. Yours very truly, (signature) Ian R. D. Williams President IRDW:ceb Enclosure
