Dear Members and Friends of Bethel:
The Annual Meeting and Traditional Service will be held at Old Bethel on
Sunday, August 24, 2014, at 11:00 AM.
Susan "Sue" C. Scarborough, Head of School of Powhatan School, will be
our honored speaker. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she majored in language and
communication at the University of Pennsylvania and in elementary education at
Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Scarborough taught and, later, became the
Director at Winchester Thurston School in Pittsburgh. Before coming to Powhatan,
she was the Director at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Boston,
Massachusetts. Her husband, Cary, and she now live on a small farm in White Post.
She enjoys gardening, tennis, reading, the outdoors and travelling.
The Reverend Karin MacPhail of Cunningham Chapel Parish will be the
officiant. The organist will be Carol Westervelt.
A favorite, Madeline MacNeil, will provide special music.
Our traditional "under the oaks" covered dish picnic will take place
immediately following the service, rain or shine, so please bring food to share and,
perhaps, a lawn chair.

continuing restoration projects and an occasional emergency repair, a tax-deductible
contribution to Old Bethel would be greatly appreciated. Join us in support of this
old church and the role that it serves in the community.

be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at 5:00 PM.
