THE ADDRESS MICHAEL M. FOREMAN GUEST SPEAKER
We welcome Michael M. Foreman, a Winchester native of diverse talents. Having graduated from Handley High School where he received the Winchester Star Leadership Award, he went on to receive a BA degree in political science at the University of Richmond and a MA degree in government from the University of Virginia. He taught History and Government at his high school alma mater as well as later becoming the Assistant Principal. He also taught English at James Wood High School. In 1975, Mr. Foreman became the Winchester Circuit Court Clerk, serving until his retirement in 2003 and has also served on the Winchester City Council. He is currently a Shenandoah University adjunct instructor in political science. Being very civic-oriented, Mr. Foreman has been actively involved in many organizations such as: Unification Steering Committee of Frederick County and Winchester, Woltz-Winchester Foundation, Handley High School Museum and Archive, Winchester Rotary Club, The United Way, Frederick-Winchester Historical Society, Lord Fairfax Food Bank, The Marsh Institute (Shenandoah University), Mt. Hebron Cemetery Board of Managers and a member of the Corporation for Valley Health System. In his spare time, Mr. Forman authored the following publications: Images of the Past (1980); History of the Nurses Training School, Winchester Memorial Hospital (1992); and Some Worthy Women (2008). Mr. Foreman and his wife, Veerle, have two sons and two grandchildren. They reside in the City of Winchester. His topic for today is: Resting in Peace in Winchester, Temporarily. * Hymn (Page 8)............................"All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name"

Dear Members and Friends of Bethel: The Bethel Memorial, Inc. Annual Meeting and Traditional Service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at 11:00 AM. Winchester native, Michael M. Foreman, will be our speaker with his topic being Resting in Peace in Winchester, Temporarily. He is the author of three publications: Images of the Past, History of the Nurses Training School, Winchester Memorial Hospital and Some Worthy Women. Mr. Foreman taught government and history at Handley High School and English at James Wood High School. He currently is a Shenandoah University adjunct instructor in political science. He served as Clerk of the Winchester Circuit Court from 1975 to his retirement in 2003 and has also served on the Winchester City Council. Some of his civic endeavors include the Woltz-Winchester Foundation, Handley High School Museum and Archive, Winchester Rotary Club, Frederick-Winchester Historical Society and Mt. Hebron Cemetery Board of Managers. Mr. Foreman and his wife, Veerle, reside in the City of Winchester, Virginia. Our organist will be Peg Albritton, and our soloist will be Gerald "Chip" Connelly. The Reverend Karin MacPhail of Cunningham Chapel Parish will be the officiant. Our traditional covered dish picnic will immediately follow the service. Rain or Shine, this will take place under the oaks. Please bring a lawn chair and food to share. Old Bethel restoration projects are continually ongoing. Please remember our financial needs as you consider your tax-deductible contribution to Bethel. In that regard, click on this link for a form for 2011-2012 dues and contributions. We urge you to support Bethel and the role that it serves in the community. Our Christmas Lessons and Carols Service will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 5:00 PM.
